Rules

Unless otherwise stated, this league follows all official FIFA rules.

The Game

  • Games are divided into 2 20-minute halves with a 5-minute half time
  • Games are played on minor sized fields
  • The minimum team size is 4 men and 4 women
  • 6 players take the field (5 + goalie)
    • Must play minimum 3 women
  • Regular season games can end in ties
    • In the event of a tie during playoffs the game will go into two five minute periods of golden goal overtime. If the game remains tied each team will choose three players to take penalty kicks.

The need-to-know rules about what makes LI-Kick Soccer different

  • There is no offsides
  • A punt, goal kick or goalie throw cannot cross half-field on a fly
  • With the exception of penalty kicks and corner kicks, all free kicks are indirect (this is done to maintain the advantage gained through a PK or corner)
  • Win by as much as you’d like, but 6 goals is the highest differential we will record
  • Slide tackling is permitted when done safely
  • Substitutions are permitted at a stoppage with referee’s acknowledgement

Player Discipline

  • Referees can issue yellow and red cards for dangerous and unsportsmanlike play.
  • A player who receives a red will be sent off and their team must play down for the duration of the game
  • A player who receives a red will be suspended for their team’s next game
  • A player who accumulates 3 yellows will be suspended for their team’s next game
  • A player who accumulates 2 reds will be expelled
  • At the conclusion of a game, a player who receives a card my file an appeal with the league jury

Frequently Asked Questions

Nope! You can register as a individual or with a small group of friends and be kept together, in fact, most first time players join this way. When you register we'll ask a few simple questions and do our best to fill out your roster with players like you.

Yes! Each year over a thousand different players play in one of our leagues across Long Island. The size of our leagues varies by sport and location but range from anywhere from 50 - 300 players in any season. All our leagues are coed, and many are split evenly between men and women.

Registration covers the cost of equipment, facility use, umpires/refs and a team shirt. You'll also be given access to the various social events we host and sponsor throughout the year.

Our players have different skill levels and motivations for playing, we do our best to make the games fun and competitive for everyone. We generate a random schedule at the start of the season, but to avoid blowouts, we may make adjustments to keep the games fun for everyone. Depending on the size of the league, we may break teams up into different divisions or brackets.

For playoffs, we typically break into different brackets based on standings.
