Bowling skills are optional in this social league. You'll bowl 2 games a night, bond with your teammates and compete in our bar games in between games. We cheer on those who bowl a perfect game, but are just as excited for those breaking 100 for the first time. Enter a full team with friends or join solo and be placed with new friends.
Yes! Each year over a thousand different players play in one of our leagues across Long Island. The size of our leagues varies by sport and location but range from anywhere from 50 - 300 players in any season. All our leagues are coed, and many are split evenly between men and women.
Generally, registration covers the cost of equipment, facility use, umpires/refs and a team shirt (for leagues, see your league's shirt policy for details). You'll also be given access to the various social events we host and sponsor throughout the year.
Our players have different skill levels and motivations for playing, we do our best to make the games fun and competitive for everyone. We generate a random schedule at the start of the season, but to avoid blowouts, we may make adjustments to keep the games fun for everyone. Depending on the size of the league, we may break teams up into different divisions or brackets.
For playoffs, we typically break into different brackets based on standings.
In case of inclement weather, games will be cancelled two hours prior to game time through e-mail.
We typically will schedule make-up games during the season in the form of a double header (games may be shortened to accommodate). We may also consider extending the season (if possible).
We want you to get as much field/game time as possible and will do our best to deliver that to you, but we are restricted by field availability, daylight, and season changes and if multiple rain-outs occur we may need to modify the play-off schedule or cancel games entirely.
Weather across the island can vary drastically, we tend to favor "playing" over "postponing", so if you don't hear from us, then we expect you and your team to be at the field ready to play, even if its "raining by you".
While we love pets, most of the venues have pet policies that we must enforce and we ask our players to follow these rules. Venues that are pet friendly will be marked.
We know that part of the fun is having a couple drinks with your friends while hanging out on the sidelines. That said, most of the venues we play at have strict rules regarding the consumption of beer and alcohol that we must enforce and we ask our players to follow these rules. When possible LI-Kick secures the proper permits to allow players to bring their own booze, in these cases those leagues and tournaments will indicate that this is allowed.
We thank you for supporting our bar sponsors and facilities by not attempting to sneak in outside drinks.
No! There are no weekly dues and shoe rentals are included.
We do not use handicaps. (and no, you can't use βbumpersβ to improve your score).
Your signup and teammate info will be visible in your locker room. We will build out your league's webpage with schedules and teams. You'll receive 3 pre-season emails from us. The first for all LI-Kick players, the second specific to your sport and a few days before your league begins, you'll receive an email from your league director with information specific to your league. You can always emails us at info@li-kick.com with any questions.
Typically each team bowls 2 games with a goal of 12 regular season games and 2 play off games. However some leagues may need to modify the schedule based on facility availability and holidays
Everyone bowls, but only the scores of the team's top 3 players for that game count towards scoring. Teams compete head-to-head. In each game there are 4 points available. Your team earns 1 point for each superior ranking. Your team's top score vs. opponent's top score. Tour team's 2nd highest score vs. opponent's second highest score. Your team's third highest score vs. opponent's third highest score. The 4th point is award for highest average among the top 3 players.
We have players of all abilities; including those just happy to break 100, and players showing up with 3 bowling balls. ALL players are welcome to play. The thing we're most serious about, is having fun.
A full team can have 4 to 6 players (no gender requirements). If you don't have enough for a full team, you can still register and we will assign you to one.
ο»ΏELO is a rating that reflects a player's skill relative to other players in the league. When you beat a good player, your ELO rating goes up, however when you suffer an upset, your ELO rating goes down. Our leagues use ELO as it continually adjusts to match a player's evolving skill level and provides a reliable metric for matchmaking and rankings. Players from previous seasons have their ELO carry over while new players will be assigned an 'initial ELO' to start their season.
Yes, in order to give players the most games at the most appropriate level you may play the same people or teams from week to week.
All New Teams come in at the median ELO of the league.
This is an ELO League. The first 3 weeks are determined by a teams initial Elo. The Remainder of the season schedule is made weekly, with the teams current ELO.
