First Season: Kickball - Spring '13

Favorite Bar Game: Stack Cup

Why I First Started LI-Kick: When I moved back to Long Island after college, I created a kickball league to meet new people, since then it has been the greatest joy of my life

Advice for New Players: LI-Kick is more than a Sports League. you're wasting your money if you only stick around for the game. go to the after-party, meet people, and check out weekly events

Additional Info

To start, thanks to everyone for a great season. 6 months ago this was just a dream and we made it a reality. I always say there is nothing else like LI-Kick on Long Island, and there is truly nothing else like a European Handball league on Long Island.

I think we've shaped a great game. The game fit well on both the turf and court- the volleyball proved to be a safe alternative- games we're exciting no matter the score- it was a great vibe hanging out with everyone in the gym.

Thanks to those who assisted this season. My apologies if I missed anyone but special thanks to Shawn OJoe M & Will G who often volunteered as crease police, as well as Mike H and Deone O who often worked the scoreboard.

There were 3 games to close out the night;

'A' Bracket: Black and Red were agreeably the 2 best teams of the season. They played a very close first half. Both teams had a deep rotation of quality players. Black scored a few goals in a row with about 7 minutes to go and took home a 13-10 victory in a game that could have gone either way.

'B' Bracket: The Tornadoes won, proving to be the ultimate 'tweener' team. They soundly beat the 'bad' teams but didn't get close to beating the 'good' teams. Blue proved to be the 'best bad team'. They lost 5 games but never suffered a blowout

'C' Bracket: Teal and Gray was a great way to end the night and season. The high-scoring game was tied at 19-18 with 10 seconds to go when the lovable Mike Hill committed the blunder of the century and gave up the tying goal as time expired. We decided to end the season with a shootout... cause why not. Teal took the shootout 2 to 1.
