What is Semi Pro? Semi Pro is a monthly tournament concept that exists outside of normal league play. This concept has already been successfully implemented for Kickball and Dodgeball.

Why? Semi Pro addresses the competitive needs of players who choose to play in LI-Kick's leagues, but are surpassing the competition offered in the weekly leagues. Semi Pro will bring together LI-Kick's most advanced players for regular monthly tournaments.

How to get an Invite: Semi Pro is invite only and consists of advanced players who actively play LI-Kick or have a long history of playing LI-Kick. There will be 20 players invited to compete in Semi Pro as 'confirmed players'. A first round of invitations will create a critical mass of confirmed players. The second round of invites will be from suggestions of confirmed players, and the third round will be an open call to active league players. Semi Pro is open gender and strictly based on ability.

How Semi Pro Pickleball Works: 16-20 players will compete in each tournament. Tournaments are doubles and played 'Indy style'. (The same format used at Championship Week). In the pool play portion, everyone will play 6 games with randomized partners and opponents every game. The top 12 players will advance to a single elimination tournament. Playoff teams are formed by allowing the highest pool play finisher to pick their teammate from the available pool and so forth until 6 teams are made. The tournament will play to award a podium.

Guest Players: If the number of players for any tournament is lower than 16, any Semi Pro player can suggest a current LI-Kick league player to compete in the tournament as a guest player.

Tournament Attendance: It is not required to attend every tournament. Guest players will be used to hit a minimum of 16 players per tournament.

How the Tournaments Connect: Each tournament will have a winning duo. The winning duo will not be allowed to partner up in the playoff portion of future tournament (except for the final tournament). Players will have individual Semi Pro ELOs which will rank them in the overall standings. The players who finishes the 6th tournament with the Highest ELOs will be declared the Semi Pro podium.

Location: Tournament locations may rotate. LI-Kick will use it's connections at the many venues it uses to select a variety of locations. Time is 7pm to an estimated 10pm.

Price: There will be a joining fee of $40 to join Semi Pro as a confirmed player which must be paid upon accepting the invitation. There will be an additional charge of $55 to play in each Semi Pro Tournament. Guest players will need to play the tournament fee but not the joining fee.
